West Sands Cottage

 
Our cottages form part of the original Steadings working buildings. The cottages are comfortably furnished using natural local materials and clean, contemporary design; both newly equipped with handbuilt kitchens, each with what we believe to be essential prerequisites for good living, not forgetting a well-stocked wine-cooler and a good coffee maker. The beds are made up with seriously good sheets, the bathroom simply but tastefully finished in slate quarry tiles with underfloor heating, and each cottage features its own woodburning stove. TV and WiFi are a given. We will, to order, leave a welcome pack in each cottage including essentials to start you off on your holiday, and extras such as flowers, chocolates, champagne on ice and home baked bread in the morning, or taxis into St Andrews or to the station can be arranged. West Sands cottage is built on a long, narrow layout, following the pattern of the old stables, and has a long, windowed corridor on the courtyard side where the coastal light pours in. Heavy curtains in a contemporary plaid can be drawn to keep in the warmth at night. The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed which can be split into twin singles, and the other a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes. The bathroom has a shower over the tub and has a towel heater as well as underfloor heating. In the living room there is a large, L-shaped OKA sofa and limed oak dining table for four as well as an iPod dock for your music. The kitchen/front door opens onto your own parking area and there is space in the courtyard for you to sit and enjoy the sun. Believe it or not, this area has the second-most sunlight hours in the UK...this doesn’t mean you should leave your coat behind, however...
